Historic Downtown Kingston

Just 2.5 miles – about 5 minutes from us.
Kingston, on the shore of Appletree Cove, is a 30-minute ferry ride from Edmonds. A rip-roaring lumber town in the early 1850's, it's quieter now as the constant whine of the sawmill has given way to the occasional blast of a ferry whistle. Known as the "Little City by the Sea", Kingston is the northern gateway to the Kitsap Peninsula and Olympic National Park & Forest.

Founded in 1853 by Benjamin Bannister, the father of Kingston, the community was originally known as Apple Tree Cove. Now the social and economic center of the north end of the Peninsula, Kingston features its own community center, theater groups and shopping district. Stroll the tiny town and enjoy the waterfront ambiance, cozy cafes and quaint shops.

The Port of Kingston Marina has 40 guest slips and shower & laundry facilities. The marina is within walking distance of shops and restaurants. The community hosts a variety of events during the year, including its popular Farmer's Market, held on Saturdays mid-April to mid-October at the Port of Kingston Marina Park, next to the ferry dock.

Ride The Ferry

Take a 30 minute ferry ride to Edmonds. Walk the upper sun deck and endjoy the mountain views and the fresh air of the Puget Sound. Free to walk on from the Kingston side.

Piont No Point Lighthouse

Just 7.7 miles – about 19 minutes from us.
The Point No Point Light Station is considered the oldest lighthouse on Puget Sound with several of the original buildings still intact. It is located on a low finger of land that the local Native American tribes had given the name - Hahd-skus, meaning long nose. The Point No Point Treaty was signed on the spit in 1855 by Territorial Gov. Isaac Stevens and leaders of Chimacum, Skokomish and S'Klallam tribes, ending the Indian wars. The lighthouse has been in continuous operation, providing navigational aids since its completion in 1879.

The light station property is currently leased from the Coast Guard by Kitsap County Parks and Recreation. The lighthouse is located in the 3 acre Point No Point County Park near Hansville. It is listed in the Washington State Heritage Register and the National Register of Historical Places. The property includes the first lightkeeper's home (the Maggs' House) and a lightkeepers' duplex that now houses the US Lighthouse Society executive offices in one half and with the other half available as a vacation rental.

Point No Point Lighthouse is open to the public. Tours are available weekends in April - September from 12-4 pm.

Historic Indianola

Indianola, within the boundaries of the Port Madison Reservation, started in 1916 as a summer/weekend community with the only access via steamboat.

Today this rural residential area, located between Kingston and Suquamish, remains a small and friendly community.

The Indianola dock, built when the Mosquito Fleet supplied the majority of transportation on Puget Sound, is a local landmark that's considered one of the best places in the area to watch the stars or any major celestial event since it juts hundreds of feet out into the water.

A small community center, at the base of the community dock, includes a country store, Post Office and community center.

Historic Port Gamble
